A nice turnout for this year's Shamrock Run & Walk - starting and finishing on Monument Circle.


This year's Holliday Park Trail Run (march 8) was snow covered for most all the way - still we had a great turn out of almost 500 runners/walkers! Last year was the great flood, this year was the snow.... what will next year bring??

Congratulations to all of you that came out to this year's BOP TO THE TOP! We had almost 1,300 registered people for this years event making the largest ever (last years drew 1,120) - Just over $27,000 was raised for Riley Hospital for Children - way to go!

The Start of the Jingle Bell Run -December 8 - a great turn out of almost 2,000 showed up this year. The Arthritis Foundation was able to raise almost $50,000 as a result of all the entries!


5,000 entered this year's Drumstick Dash event on Thanksgiving Day! The event is expected to
raise about $100,000 for Wheeler Mission Ministries. Thanks to everyone that participated.

 
Ranger Don gets ready to start the Outback Scramble event.  Over 1,000 lbs of food was donated to Gleaner's Food Bank in addition to over $1,750 cash.

 

  
Check out these two guys....errr lunch room ladies... yes, they did the Run Like Hell event on October 26th and ran the full 3 miles with their full lunch tray (real food!!) - they won the "best props" award - Second place went to the running McDonald's restaurant!

Awards at the IU Mini-Marathon
Head coach Kelvin Sampson addressed the participants following the race, commending them on completing the race and helping out a good cause. He then introduced the team to those in attendance before the team began passing out the awards and plaques for the top runners in each age group and division. The players posed for pictures with each of the runners who received plaques and then got together for a group picture with some of the younger participants.

Just over 39,000 people registered this year for the Komen Indianapolis Race for the Cure - making the largest in the 16 year history here in Indianapolis - the previous record was 37,100 in 2003.


Michael Smith winning the Personal Best 5
Congrats to Michael Smith for winning the first ever Personal Best 5 Miler - The event had staggered starts so that it might be a close finish between either Master Women, Open Women, Master Men and Open Men.  Michael made the event a one-man show by easily catching the women and actually pulling away from the open men that started behind him (Michael is a masters male) - it was a fun event with a nice twist from the original format of a run.  See results

Snowy finishers at this year's GET ON THE STICK
What a fun day it was at this year's Get on the Stick 5K in Carmel (Saturday, Feb 17) - The snow was falling and the roads were white with snow and slush. Runners and walkers still showed up and ran the course (almost 75 people paid that day to run/walk!) - The times were not fast, but people still had a good time!  more photos

 

Come FEBRUARY 3 it will be BOP TIME!
Maybe it's because the COLTS are in the Superbowl? But for whatever reason, this year's BOP will be
the BIGGEST ever with 1,100 entrants!  The previous largest Bop was 875.

3700 people signed up for this year's Drumstick Dash! 
Thanks to everyone that came out and did the dash with Jerry Gobler (the 6' tall turkey).
A lot of money was raised for Wheeler Mission Ministries... thanks to everyone - volunteers, sponsors, participants, police, and whoever was in charge of the weather!

This year's Outback Scramble was a fun one! Just over 250 signed up for the event and brought in 750 lbs of food for Gleaners Food Bank - In addition to that, much money was also raised for this worth cause. Thanks for everyone that came out and Scrambled!

Thanks to those of you who came out the UGLY weather to run the "run like hell" event. Dispite the weather, it was still a fun event and lots of great costumes for sure! Be sure to check out the photo page.

UP NEXT is the 15th annual Komen Indianapolis RACE FOR THE CURE - April 22.

Keep the Chip!
If you sign up to do the competitive 5K at this year's RACE FOR THE CURE event, you will get to keep the Chip as a souvenir (it is a single use chip that cannot be used at other events).

Susha the dog needs a home!  She runs like a gazelle and would make a perfect running mate for someone. She is a doll of a dog. Not all dogs can be a good running dog. Many don’t have the stamina.  Susha does though and she is a beautiful dog.

Did you notice the "ultra cool" awards for this year's Holliday Park Trial Run - hand-crafted stools made by a Holliday Park employee... nice!  Carrie Kirk shows off her age-group award.

Lined up for the Jingle Bell Run 5K Start - over 1,000 people came out to run and walk on this cold day (yes, there are 2 people on the left in shorts and bare-chests that did the event!)

This year's Drumstick Dash attracted almost 2,400 participants! Thanks to those people, a  lot of money was raised for Wheeler Mission Ministries.

Next up...  is the always FUN/WACKY Outback Scramble - you can still sign up on Saturday morning if you like. This event benefits Gleaners Food Bank.

NEW EVENT for the end of this year!  We will be doing a 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, December 31 called
RUN TO THE NEW YEAR
. This event is at Cool Creek Park in Westfield IN (basically 151st and Meridian) - It will offer Chip Timing and awards for the run event. Look for details soon at our site.
