BENEFIT
Proceeds from the Father’s Day Four Miler Walk/Run will help fund the completion of a scenic outdoor play space at Calvary Christian School, which has been relocated to I-65 and Keystone Avenue on the near south side. The beautiful park-like setting will offer multiple benefits to the school children, as well as the local community.
The goal of Calvary Christian School is to provide a source of much-needed quality private education for the community. The new state-of-art facility is equipped with a two-story library, teaching theatre and a large gymnasium. A facility of this size and magnitude needs a playground to match.
Phase I, completed in the fall of 2007, included the installation of a jungle gym, climbing wall, swings and basketball court. Also, a large variety of beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers were planted to beautify the outdoor play space.
Additional funds are needed for Phase II, which will include an outside learning lab and amphitheater/outdoor classroom. Also, the goal is to purchase equipment so that the children can play soccer and kickball in the wide open field.
Calvary Christian School, founded in 1946, was previously located in the heart of the city near the historic Fletcher Place area.
